Poetry at Jurnet's meets on Zoom from 8pm - 10pm on the 3rd Tuesday of every month.
From 2015 - 2020 we met at Jurnet's Bar on King Street, Norwich. We were hoping to return to it post-lockdown, but during its pandemic closure, the council decided to close the bar permanently, so nowadays you can... JOIN US ON ZOOM ! Our next session will be on Tuesday October 15th. Watch this space to find out if it's going to be a themed open mic... Want to be there? Now in its twelfth year, Poetry at Jurnet's is a relaxed and informal monthly gathering at which writers of poetry/spoken word and fiction – all forms of creative writing, really – get the chance to perform their work to a zoom-room full of people who like that sort of thing. Open-mic is the bedrock of what we do.
And when we say 'open', we mean it. Old hand or first timer, whoever you are and however you identify, we want to hear you! Just turn up and sign in, and you'll be guaranteed your share of time at the ...er... 'mic'.
Broadly speaking, our calendar of events tends to alternate between evenings that are entirely devoted to open-mic contributions – usually on a pre-determined theme – and events at which we feature a guest writer who typically will perform a couple of sets, generously book-ended by open-mic activity.
A note about our themed evenings:
On these occasions, we invite you to bring along poems related to the chosen theme - but if you haven't got anything that fits, that's not a problem. The theme is just a 'serving suggestion': we want to hear your poems regardless of subject matter.
Additionally, every now and then we hold special evenings: showcase events, book launches etc. Whatever we're doing, you can always keep up to speed with it by visiting our Coming Events page.
